Top 9 BL Dramas on Netflix

Netflix has established a solid foothold in the Asian markets. Netflix has been actively acquiring excellent Asian programming to appeal to its global audience, and it has also been releasing original material in the form of Asian dramas and movies.

Some BL dramas are even regarded as the finest of all Asian dramas. Boys Love dramas have a global fanbase. The reason why Netflix has so many excellent BL dramas available is because of this demand. I’ve compiled a list of the top 9 BL dramas on Netflix, and I’m going to share it with you right here.

WARNING: Some of these dramas may not be available on Netflix in your region; if this is the case, you may need to utilise a virtual private network (VPN) or another method to access them.

1. Love By Chance

As I’m sure you all know, BL dramas are very popular in Thailand, and many of the BL dramas included here come from that country. The challenges of being a young homosexual boy in an orthodox community are well explored in the BL drama Love by Chance.

Pete is a quiet, thoughtful young man. The fact that he is homosexual and doesn’t want anybody to know about it is making him very shy. Things continued in this vein until he met Ae, a good-natured youngster of about the same age.

This is one of the most original and heartfelt Boy/Guys Love shows available on Netflix right now. There is no doubt that reading this will be time well spent.

2. Dark Blue Kiss

Somber blue ‘Kiss Me Again,’ a popular Thai drama, served as inspiration for ‘Kiss,’ a plot that follows in its footsteps. I’d recommend this show to anybody interested in the two main characters, who were so successful that they got their own show. You can watch both of those programmes on Netflix right now.

The first narrative centred on a bunch of pals, while “Dark Blue Kiss” expands on the love story between Kao and Pete. They’re very good buddies with one another. Things progress to the point where they kiss accidently, setting their hearts ablaze with passion.

3. Great Men Academy

I described it as “the nicest drama in the BL fantasy realm” in my essay ranking the best Thai BL dramas. I have since seen another fifteen to twenty BL dramas, and I still feel the same way about this one. Looking for a sweet, kind, and hilarious LGBT drama to binge watch? Try looking for Great Men Academy on Netflix.

High school senior Love has a thing on Great Men Academy student Vier, but she just can’t bring herself to admit it. Love has little chance of meeting her crush at the school since it is all male. When she encounters a mythical unicorn believed to grant wishes, the plot takes a dramatic turn. Her heart racing with the prospect of winning Vier’s affection, she secretly longs for a means of drawing the elfish king closer to her. But the unicorn misunderstands her desire and turns her into a male.

The drama Great Men Academy is full of life and speed, populated by interesting people. If you’re in the mood for a lighthearted fantasy drama, give it a try, but skip it if you’re in search of a dramatic tale of masculine love.

4. Diary of Tootsies

An easy tale with an unusual idea. You’ve got it spot-on. A new take on the BL drama genre, with sex comedy, friendship, and romance as its central themes, set in the world of high school. Despite the trailer’s portrayal, it is not only sexual comedy but also addresses issues such as homophobia, betrayal, and the difficulties of love.

Three homosexual friends named Gus, Golf, and Kim all experience heartbreak on the same day. Natty, their lesbian closest friend, is there for them whenever they’re feeling down.

5. Love Sick: The Series

Love Sick is a great choice if you want a narrative that has a little bit of everything: romance, humour, pathos, and melodrama. Love Sick first premiered in Thailand on television in 2014, much before Netflix made its debut, and immediately became a hit with fans of the genre.

Follow along with Phun, his family, and Noh (his secret lover) as they recount their adventures. Phun’s dad wants him to go out with his friend’s daughter, but Phun isn’t interested since he’s more into boy-on-boy romances. He devises a stupid plot to trick his father into helping him escape.

The drama of Love Sick will be long remembered for its freshness and the effect it left. While this boy-love drama series isn’t currently available on Netflix in Asia, it is for fans in the West.

6. HIStory3: Trapped

HIStory drama series covers a total of 3 seasons and all are LGBTQ tales. Every season offers 2-3 distinct tales with a varied cast and every single season is worth seeing.

The protagonists of “HIStory3: Trapped” are two male leads, Tang Yi and Shao Fei. Gang boss Tang Yi and police officer Shao Fei are two very different people. Shao Fei and Tang Yi get connected with one other when Shao Fei’s suspicions about Tang Yi’s involvement in the case lead him there. Eventually, they become more than just rivals.

Despite the fact that I have included just the first of the HIStory Series books here. All of the episodes are fantastic and worth watching in one sitting, so don’t miss a single one on Netflix.

7. Gameboys

In a post-pandemic future where most people are quarantined at home, the protagonists must take their romantic pursuits online. A Netflix original, Gameboys is a BL romantic drama that doesn’t shy away from homoerotism or LGBTQ+ concerns.

In the show’s main plot, Cario, a popular online game broadcaster, is taken by surprise when his competitor Gavreel calls him over video chat. Since I’ve previously described the plot of Hello Stranger, we can relax and enjoy ourselves without worrying too much about what comes next.

Gay characters, together with their feelings, sexuality, anxieties, and vulnerabilities, are beautifully portrayed in Gameboy games. Our two primary characters have great chemistry; I think you’ll enjoy seeing them interact.

8. Ossan’s Love

While Thai drama is ubiquitous in the BL subgenre, there aren’t many noteworthy Japanese productions. In reality, this was the last BL drama shown on Japanese television until 2020. If you don’t enjoy becoming emotionally immersed in dramas, then Ossan’s Love is the one for you.

Haruta Soichi is a regular guy who works in the corporate world but lacks a good woman for him to physically touch. His parents, concerned about his future happiness, allow him to continue to live at home with them. When his parents abandoned him, his world came crashing down.

Due to his inability to keep up with basic housework, he has been forced to share living quarters with his colleague, Maki Ryota. And since Maki is gay and has feelings for Soichi, this sets up a dramatic climax.

9. The Untamed

Although this Chinese drama is more of a Bromance than a Boys Love, the chemistry between its two characters is so compelling that I couldn’t leave it off the list. Also, it’s one of the best-rated Chinese dramas out there.

In this tale, two courageous heroes go on a quest to rid the realm of its lingering evil. After deciding to battle against the governing Wen sect, Wei Wuxian disappears for 16 years before returning and teaming up with the virtuous Lan Wangji to solve decades-long murder cases.

If you don’t mind a few homosexual moments and want to observe a nice romance between two guys, I strongly suggest you watching it on Netflix.

Conclusion

BL movies and dramas are popular these days. At this point, you should have a comprehensive list of BL dramas on netflix that you can watch this year.
